Once you throw your trash away, the garbage truck picks it up and brings it to the Transfer Station.
CCRRA collects curbside recycling from over 27,000 households in Centre County, 800 businesses, and over 100 recycling drop-off containers. All of the recycling is stored here.
The Interpretive Center was built back in 2001. It was constructed using many materials that you recycle at home.
All of the trucks that bring trash to the facility must stop at the weigh station. The trucks are weighed when they arrive, and again after they have been emptied. The difference in weight tells us how many pounds of trash has been delivered.
Compressed natural gas, commonly referred to as CNG, is an eco-friendly alternative to gasoline. Made by compressing natural gas (methane) down to less than 1% of its volume, CNG fuel is safer than gasoline and diesel because it is non-toxic and does not contaminate ground water.
Trucks, buses, and other large vehicles that run on CNG can refill their tanks at the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority.
